# Create a New Wallet

## Overview

Creating your first SSP Wallet establishes the foundation of your secure 2-of-2 multisignature system. This guide walks you through creating a new wallet with industry-leading security practices.

## 📋 Prerequisites

### Required Items

* **🖥️ Computer/Laptop** with Chrome, Firefox, or Brave browser
* **📱 Smartphone** (iOS 15.1+ or Android 7+) for SSP Key
* **🌐 Internet Connection** on both devices
* **✏️ Pen and Paper** for secure seed phrase backup
* **⏱️ 15 minutes** of uninterrupted time

## 🚀 Step-by-Step Wallet Creation

### Step 1: Launch SSP Wallet

After installing SSP Wallet you should see the extension icon in your browser toolbar.

**Click the SSP Wallet extension icon** to begin setup.

### 🌍 Language Selection

SSP Wallet supports **35+ languages**. Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.

**Supported Languages Include**:

* English, Spanish, French, German, Italian
* Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Japanese, Korean
* Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi
* And many more!

💡 **Tip**: You can change language later in Settings → Preferences → Language

### Step 2: Choose "Create New Wallet"

**Click "Get Started!"** to begin the wallet creation process.

### Step 3: Set a Strong Password

Your password protects your wallet on this device. Create a strong, unique password.

**Password Requirements:**

* ✅ **Minimum 8 characters** (12+ recommended)
* ✅ **Mix of uppercase and lowercase** letters
* ✅ **Include numbers** (0-9)
* ✅ **Special characters** (!@#$%^&\*)
* ✅ **Unique to SSP Wallet** (don't reuse other passwords)

**Strong Password Example:**

**Password Security Tips:**

* 💾 **Use a Password Manager**: Store your password securely
* 🔄 **Don't Reuse**: Create a unique password for SSP Wallet
* ✍️ **Write it Down**: Keep a secure backup copy
* 🚫 **Never Share**: Your password should be known only to you

### Step 4: Review Terms and Disclaimer

**Key Points:**

* SSP Wallet is **self-custody** - you control your funds
* **You are responsible** for securing your seed phrases
* **No customer support** can recover lost seed phrases
* **Use at your own risk** for cryptocurrency operations

✅ **Check "I agree with SSP Wallet Disclaimer"** only after reading and understanding the terms.

**Click "Create Wallet"** to proceed to seed phrase generation.

### Step 5: Backup Your Seed Phrase (CRITICAL)

🚨 **MOST IMPORTANT STEP** 🚨

Your wallet seed phrase is the backup for **Key #1** of your 2-of-2 wallet (the SSP Wallet extension). This **24-word** phrase restores the SSP Wallet's half if you lose access to this device — but on its own it does **not** restore access to your funds. Spending every transaction also requires **Key #2**, which lives on your SSP Key phone and has its **own, separate** seed phrase (the two seeds are different). Anyone with only this seed has just *partial* control. Back up **both** seed phrases and store them separately.

**⚠️ CRITICAL SECURITY WARNINGS:**

* 🔑 **This seed = Key #1 only** — one of two keys; it cannot move funds alone (SSP Key holds Key #2, with its own separate seed)
* 💸 **Lose a key's device&#x20;*****and*****&#x20;its seed = that key is gone; the 2-of-2 can no longer spend**
* 📱 **No customer support can recover lost seed phrases**
* 🚫 **Never store digitally** (no photos, no cloud, no digital notes)
* ✏️ **Only write on physical paper**

**Proper Seed Phrase Backup Process:**

1. **Prepare Materials**: Get pen and paper (not pencil)
2. **Ensure Privacy**: Make sure no one can see your screen
3. **Click "Show Mnemonic Wallet Seed Phrase"**
4. **Write Down All 24 Words** in exact order
5. **Double-Check Spelling** - every letter matters
6. **Store Securely** in a safe location

**Seed Phrase Storage Best Practices:**

✅ **DO:**

* Write on waterproof/fireproof paper
* Store in a safety deposit box
* Make multiple copies in different locations
* Keep away from digital devices
* Tell trusted family member the location (not the words)

❌ **DON'T:**

* Take photos or screenshots
* Store in cloud services (Google Drive, iCloud, etc.)
* Email to yourself
* Store in password managers
* Share with anyone
* Store all copies in same location

**After writing down your seed phrase:**

✅ **Check "I have backed up my wallet seed phrase in a secure location"**

**Click "Confirm"** to proceed to seed phrase verification.

### Step 6: Verify Your Seed Phrase Backup

To ensure you've backed up your seed phrase correctly, you'll need to confirm specific words.

**Verification Process:**

1. **System will ask for specific words** (e.g., "What is the 3rd word?")
2. **Type the exact word** from your backup
3. **Spelling must be perfect** - check your written backup
4. **Complete all verification prompts**

⚠️ **If verification fails:**

* Go back and re-copy your seed phrase
* Double-check spelling and word order
* Ensure you have all 24 words written correctly

### Step 7: Complete Wallet Creation

After successful seed phrase verification:

**Click "Create Wallet"** to finalize your wallet creation.

✅ **Wallet Creation Complete!** Your SSP Wallet now holds **Key #1** of your 2-of-2 multisignature system.

### Step 8: Prepare for SSP Key Synchronization

You'll now see a QR code that connects your wallet to SSP Key mobile app.

**Before proceeding, install SSP Key on your mobile device:**

### Step 9: Synchronize with SSP Key

**QR Code Synchronization (Recommended):**

1. **Keep this QR code displayed** on your computer screen
2. **Open SSP Key app** on your mobile device
3. **Tap "Scan to Sync"** in the SSP Key app
4. **Point camera at QR code** on your computer
5. **Wait for successful scan** confirmation

**Manual Synchronization (Alternative):**

If QR scanning doesn't work, use manual input:

1. **Click "Manual Input"** on computer
2. **In SSP Key app**: Go to Settings → Export Public Key
3. **Copy the Extended Public Key** from mobile
4. **Paste into computer** manual input field

### Step 10: Complete Synchronization

**After successful scanning/input:**

**Click "Sync Key"** to complete the synchronization process.

⏳ **Synchronization Process** (30-60 seconds):

1. Devices exchange public keys securely
2. Multisignature addresses generated
3. Wallet addresses created and verified
4. Sync completion confirmation
